The assignment for this penthouse duplex in the heart of Antwerp sounded simple:
light, clean lines, honest materials. The execution proved too far from simple. 

We maintained a lot of the nice original ornaments like the stairs. We restorated them and designed a custom steel railing. The wood kitchen island is finished in the same varnish as we finished the stairs with to make sure they glue the old and new elements together. The heating units in this area are encased, hiding them from sight but also creating storage space all around the living area.

With a lof of attention to the technical aspects of al the carpentry we were able to design cabinets that are really clean when needed to be so but can be transformed with a simple gesture to be practical and ready to use.
